MORNINGS:
Successful ABC Radio Networks host and major market (Dallas, Detroit, Las Vegas and DC) morning personality Jim Zippo
AFTERNOONS:
Longtime Houston icon and former KFRC/San Francisco personality Eric Chase!
Jim Zippo lights up weekday mornings from 6 to 10am, coast to coast on TKO's Classic Top 40© Radio Network with his own style of "Zippo-tainment"!
The Zip Dude has been "fertilizing the roots of rock & roll" with radio listeners since 1975 (with groups like CBS Radio and Clear Channel) as morning DJ in cities like Dallas, Detroit, Washington D.C., Las Vegas, and was syndicated morning host for 12 years at the ABC RADIO NETWORK's oldies format. Now he wakes up the world from his infamous "secret broadcast cave" with Classic Top 40© every morning on TKO!
Jim Zippo has done remote broadcasts from all over the world; he visited all the Beatles' historic sites (the Cavern Club in Liverpool, Abbey Road, the Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane, etc). He even did his Halloween show on location from Dracula's Castle in Transylvania (Romania) with stateside guests Wolfman Jack and Elvira, Mistress of the Dark!
Zippo loves lively interaction with your listeners and adds his energetic fun to the already exciting Classic Top 40© sound on TKO, exclaiming "What a talent lineup! From Eric Chase and Marty with the Party, to John Records Landecker...I am so flattered to be part of this awesome group! I look forward to working again with friends, and making many new ones! We'll keep listeners listening and talking, and make sure the morning keeps rocking!"
Afternoon drive talent, Eric Chase, began his career as a Drake “Boss Jock” doing afternoon drive at KGB-San Diego, then joined a legendary team at KFRC-San Francisco. He rejoined Bill Drake at K-100, Los Angeles, along with Robert W. Morgan and The Real Don Steele. Moving on, Chase did afternoons at KFI-Los Angeles, during its Top 40 days. In LA, he also voiced several national TV shows, did dozens of national commercials and is the DJ one hears in the song “On The Radio” on the Cheap Trick “Heaven Tonight” album. After a brief stint at KJR-Seattle, Eric joined KRBE-Houston.
In Houston, Chase programmed the nation’s first Classic Rock station, KRBE-AM. Classic Rock 1070 held the federal service mark for the term “Classic Rock”, but allowed it to go public domain. Returning to his Top 40 roots, Eric programmed KRBE-FM, while doing morning drive, and took it to #1. Finally, Chase was part of one of the nation’s most successful format kick-offs ever—that of Mix 96.5 Houston, where he was the highest rated jock for 12 straight years.
“I’m very excited to a part of the TKO Radio Network,” said Chase from Houston. “TKO has uniquely restored the best elements of the format that dominated radio for three decades, and it really resonates with listeners who grew up in the late 60s, 70s & 80s. It’s an honor to be part of the TKO Dream Team!”
From Coast to Coast, Classic Top 40© Weeknights are alive and LIVE Monday - Friday nights 7P-12A ET... it’s Marty with the Party!!
A veteran of CBS Radio/Entercom in Cincinnati most recently, and Director of Oldies Programming for Clear Channel Worldwide in Vegas for six years (and host of the nationally syndicated show "Live! From Las Vegas”), Marty Thompson (no relation!) steps back behind the microphone for some FUN!
Capturing the thrill of this new venture to relaunch Weeknights, Marty states, “It's time for the Thompson family reunion!! I'm proud to build on their tradition of awesome programming! The show promises to be more relevant, more compelling and still full of FUN! Look for lots of listener involvement, the greatest stars on LIVE with us – and of course the greatest hits of the 60s, 70s and 80s."
